Sustainable enjoyment at De Paardekreek

Sustainability has become an integral part of our daily lives. More and more people and businesses are considering the impact we have on the world around us. At De Paardekreek, we also believe it’s important to approach both people and nature consciously, which is why we continue to invest in a sustainable future. This includes generating green energy, separating waste, and many other small and large steps that together make a difference.

  • We are digitising more and more of our administration and documents in order to reduce paper consumption.
  • We use eco-toners for our printers, which we collect and have refilled in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • And when we do need to print, we choose paper with a sustainability label.

Sustainable in everything we do

Sustainability at De Paardekreek goes beyond simply separating waste or using less paper. We look at how we can reduce our impact at all levels – from smart technology to conscious choices in our daily management.

Energy and heating

We use energy-efficient air heat pumps to heat the water and air in our sanitary buildings and swimming pools. Solar boilers are also used to heat the swimming pool water and the villas. In addition, we are currently installing solar panels on several villas, so that we can generate more and more of our own green energy. In the villas, a central management system helps us to control the heating remotely and efficiently. Motion sensors are also used: if no one is present, the temperature is automatically lowered.

Smart lighting and saving

We use energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the park. Skylights have been installed in the sanitary buildings, so that no lighting is needed during the day. In the evening, the lights are controlled by motion sensors, so we don't use any unnecessary energy.

Water consumption under control

Our sanitary buildings are equipped with water-saving showers and taps, and we have set the shower time to a maximum of 6 minutes. The dishwashers are also energy and water efficient and use sustainable detergent. The outdoor swimming pool is equipped with a cover to retain heat, and the pool water is cleaned sustainably using salt electrolysis (where salt is only converted into chlorine when necessary).

Cleaning and waste disposal

We use environmentally friendly cleaning products in the sanitary buildings and encourage our guests to separate their waste. Vegetable, paper and glass waste are collected separately.
